Compliance Audit
A Facility Compliance
Audit will address safety-related issues. However, there is an emphasis
on the handling of hazardous materials. In addition to safety, Facility
Compliance audits cover all applicable Department of Transportation
(DOT), International Air Transportation Association (IATA),
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and
International Maritime
Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code regulations including training, marking,
labeling, placarding, packaging, documentation, and emergency response
information. The goal of the transportation portion of a Facility
Compliance audit is to protect the facility from DOT,
FAA, and
IMDG
inspections.
Facilities dealing with
hazardous materials are not only concerned with the safety of their
workers and the material during transport, but must address
environmental concerns relating to the Hazardous Substances handled at
the facility. The environmental portion of the Facility Compliance
audit addresses elements that include the following:
-
Potential releases
of regulated flammable and toxic substances and the safeguards in place
to prevent environmental impacts from a release.
-
Emergency planning
and notification to emergency response agencies for storage of listed
hazardous substances above threshold quantities.
-
Clean-up measures
and notification procedures involving spills/releases of hazardous
substances.
-
Storage, treatment,
and disposal of materials classified as hazardous wastes.
A Regulatory Compliance
Services, Inc. Facility Compliance audit addresses both safety and
hazardous material-related issues present at a facility. RCS, Inc.
auditors complete on-site facility walkthroughs, which help them to
determine regulations that are applicable to a facility. Upon
completion of a Compliance Audit, RCS, Inc. will provide a thorough
evaluation of the facility’s current status and will make
recommendations for areas in need of attention.
