In accordance with
the regulatory bodies listed above, hazmat training
must take place within ninety (90) days of hire, with
refresher training occurring at least every three years. Records, which
include
the date as well as the trainer and trainee’s signatures, must be kept
for all training that is provided.
RCS offers the following Carrier-Specific, DOT, IATA, IMDG,
and TDG training courses:
UPS™ & FedEx™:
Carrier-specific training will provide knowledge needed to ship
Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods according to the
United States Department of
Transportation (USDOT) and the
International Air Transport Association (IATA). The training
will concentrate on satisfying the standards for different
carriers. Trainees will be able to understand and utilize the
different software used by specific carriers when shipping
Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods. RCS specializes in the
United Parcel Service (UPS™) and Federal Express (FedEx™), however,
other carriers are available. RCS will customize each program to
provide detailed training that is pertinent to the products housed
and shipped from your facility.
RCS understands the hardships that a company faces if shipping
privileges are lost with any carrier due to improper
shipping procedures. In addition to training, RCS associates will
communicate with the carriers on your behalf to work toward
reinstatement of shipping privileges.

DOT HM-126F One Day
General Awareness / Function
Specific / Safety Training:
This course is intended to educate any
individual who prepares, handles, stores, transports, creates shipping
papers, and/or is exposed in any capacity to hazardous materials of any
kind. Individuals are provided with a General Awareness of hazardous
materials regulations including an overview of the Hazardous Materials
Regulations, identification and emergency preparedness. In
addition, this course provides Function Specific and Safety training
applicable to the products handled and safety measures in place at the
site. This course also satisfies the training requirements of the OSHA
Hazardous Communications Standard and EPA Right-to-Know. Participants
are provided with a site-specific handbook covering in detail all
information addressed during the course. Upon completion of the course,
participants demonstrate understanding of the subject matter and obtain
certification.
*Please note that this
is a custom site-specific training course which is designed for operator
and mid-management level employees.
DOT HM-126F Two Day
Management Level General
Awareness
/ Function Specific / Safety Training:
This
course is intended to educate individuals at a managerial level and
will provide participants with and in-depth understanding of the
regulations regarding the utilization of Hazardous Materials
Regulations, and the requirements for classification, marking,
labeling, placarding, packaging, and preparing shipping papers for
hazardous materials. This course will also satisfy the training
requirements of the OSHA Hazardous Communications Standard and EPA
Right-to-Know. Participants are provided with a site-specific handbook
covering in detail all information addressed during the course. Upon
completion of the course, participants demonstrate understanding of the
subject matter and obtain certification.

site-specific training course which is designed for management level
employees.
DOT Security
Plan Training:
Effective September 2003, the DOT required
a documented Security Plan for facilities that offer shipments of
hazardous material according to certain applicability standards (49 CFR
Subpart I). In addition to a written plan, such facilities are now
required to perform Security training (49 CFR §172.704(a)(4-5))
upon implementation of the plan, to address site-specific security
procedures and safeguards in place, with refresher training every three
years. RCS is capable of evaluating a facility’s present security
standards, creating a facility security plan, and providing complete
security training for all employees.

IATA / ICAO:
RCS, Inc. can develop and train
personnel for the safe transport of Dangerous Goods by air under the
International Air Transportation Association
(IATA) Dangerous Goods
Regulations. RCS, Inc.'s training courses cover General
Familiarization, Function Specific, and Safety Training to meet the
IATA Section 1.5 training requirements. RCS, Inc. tailors their IATA
Dangerous Goods training courses to address the substances and
articles handled at a specific facility. Training consists of IATA
training, a question and answer period, and administering of a test
to ensure all employees fully understand the applicable IATA regulations.

IMO / IMDG:
RCS, Inc. can develop and train
personnel for the safe transport of Dangerous Goods internationally
by water under the
International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code. RCS,
Inc.'s training courses cover General Familiarization, Function
Specific, and Safety Training to meet IMDG Chapter 1.3 training
requirements. RCS, Inc.'s site-specific IMDG training will ensure that all
operators gain the knowledge necessary to perform functions
associated with maritime shipments of Dangerous Goods. The course
consists of a training session, a question and answer period, and
administering of a test to ensure thorough understanding of the
IMDG regulations.

TDG:
RCS, Inc. can develop and train
personnel for the safe transport of Dangerous Goods from and within
Canada under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
(TDG) Code through
various modes of transport including rail, road, marine, and air.
RCS, Inc.'s training courses cover General Familiarization, Function
Specific, and Safety training to meet TDG Part 6 training
requirements. Successful completion of the TDG training course will
ensure that operators are knowledgeable in TDG regulations that
affect the safe transport of Dangerous Goods under the TDG code. The
customized, site-specific course consists of a training session, a question and answer period,
and administering of a test to ensure competence of
the TDG regulations.
