OSHA
at 29 CFR 1910.178(l) requires forklift training. The employer
shall ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent
to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the
successful completion of the training and evaluation. Forklift
accidents result in many
unnecessary injuries and deaths per
year. In addition, companies suffer financial loss with damaged
products and equipment. State and Federal laws require training for all
forklift operators to avoid such costly mishaps.
