Loading
and Unloading
OSHA
requires training on loading and unloading of forklifts under 29 CFR
1910.178(l)(3)(ii).
This
training includes:
- Surface conditions where the vehicle will be operated
- Composition of loads to be carried
- Load stability
- Load manipulation
- Stacking and unstacking
- Handling loads in areas where there is pedestrian
traffic
- Carrying a load in narrow aisles and other restricted
places
- Visibility when traveling with and handling a load
- Carrying a load on surfaces which could affect the
vehicle's stability.
Employees that are properly trained on
loading and unloading will be more productive and help ensure a safe
and efficient workplace.
